5 tips for the best wedding photography possible

Trust your photographer

You must feel comfortable and trust the photographer that you hire. Choosing a photographer may very well be one of the most important decisions that you make for your big day. This person will be with you, your friends and your family all day long! Their personality should be an extremely important part of your selection process. They will set the tone for the day, they will need to be able to deal with issues and other personalities, and you will have to work with them not only on your wedding day, but with your engagement session, and your creative shots along with post wedding image selections.

What you are looking for in your wedding photography and setting your expectations up front is paramount in getting the images that you want. Your photographer will most likley capture all of the important moments throughout your entire day. There is no need to give your photographer a 2 page list of all the most common shots, (ie the bride walking down the isle, the bride and grooms expressions, the kiss, the ring exchange, etc). Just ask your photographer and be certain that he or she plans to capture these important and common traditional moments. However, if there are specific people that you would like photographed together, this is when you want to create a small list of ‘must have’ pictures and provide them to your photographer.

Time for creative photography

If you are looking for the best wedding photography possible, you must be able to find some time on your day to provide your wedding photographer to capture the photographs that you want. This doesn’t have to be 3 or 4 hours of your day but most photographers are thrilled when allot for 1 ½ – 2 hours to capture some stunning images in your favorite local settings. One mistake couples often make is forgetting to consider driving time between locations. You should factor in some time for driving between locations. You will want to be able to view your wedding album years from now and LOVE your images just as much as you LOVED living your wedding day! You will be forever grateful that you provided the little bit of extra time and your photographer will be too! This is a day that you spend a lot of money on so why not invest some time to capture it with some memorable photographs! You will be very glad you did once your day is over.

Wedding photography is not inexpensive and very few people consider wedding photography a luxury service. However, price is almost always a factor when selecting a wedding photographer, but it should NOT be the only one. Just ask anyone you know who’s been married what they wish they would have spent more money on and we guarantee they will tell you, “the photography”. Almost no one will remember the wedding favors you handed out or your chair decorations, so invest wisely with a personable, knowledgeable, creative, and artistic photographer who has the highest quality control and provides heirloom quality products with their artwork. We hear horror stories all the time about couples who selected their wedding photographer solely based on price. Wedding albums that have fallen apart and missing important pictures are just some of the issues that can occur when trying to cut costs. Just remember, when your special day is over, all you have to remember that day will be through your photographs. Make sure you do not take this decision lightly.

Makeup artists highly suggest brides to use airbrushed makeup because it looks good on camera. It also minimizes post production editing work which saves your photographer time resulting in you getting to see your images sooner! Makeup artists suggest refraining from using “mineral makeup” because it causes a “shine” on your skin and reflects the flash! Airbrush makeup is awesome and is highly recommended by the professionals! This also helps you get the best wedding photographs possible and who doesn’t want that?
